SQRLZ Inc. Learning Designers and Strategists
We are a team of Learning Designers and Strategists specializing in advanced training technologies and traditional methods. Over the past decade, we have tracked trends in training modalities and compiled key insights for enterprise organizations and educational institutions. Our objective is to align training modalities and delivery strategies with desired outcomes by integrating appropriate emerging technologies (AR, VR, XR), secure online learning platforms, live simulations, and conventional approaches to maximize results for both learners and training teams.

SQRLZ Inc Assessment and Learning Design Consultants
We have utilized our expertise and applied research to audit organizations current training assets and modalities to determine effectiveness and ensure positive outcome results. There is a clear need for specialists in learning and training design who can assess existing assets, define objectives, and integrate the most effective modalities—leveraging advanced learning platforms, emerging technologies (AR VR MR), live simulations, and traditional methods.
Effective training strategies also require learning designers to account for human factors to optimize outcomes for both learners and educators. Are learners predisposed to knowledge retention visually, through tactile interfaces, experientially, through demonstration, reading, or video. Additionally, training strategies should account for social and cultural contexts, as well as the emotional impact of learning tasks. Will the task learned affect the emotional state of the learner not only during the training but greatly affect them once they are performing the task in a work environment.

Our experts are also versed in digital media and transmedia communications (use of multi-platform narrative communications) and have a deep understanding of learner’s consumption habits on global and private information platforms. Skills that are essential to develop customs, secure online training environments that support corporate needs, the learners and organize digital content for modern devices and contemporary learner consumption.

Through our research, client engagements and training audits, we have identified the need for integrated, adaptable learning ecosystems. These systems should enable learners to safely acquire, practice, and master skills at their own pace, using modalities that consider individual learning predispositions as well as the training objectives. With the proliferation of new technologies, including AR, VR simulators, live training, and online platforms, careful selection and combination of modalities is essential for a successful learning path.

Previous Canadian National Defense - Battlefield Simulations Immersive Training
Details involved designing and implementing a immersive LIVE Culturally based training program for military pre-deployment. Pre-deploying training took place 2-3 times a year (2 year project) in a remote region of Alberta (CAN) at the CFB Wainwright Canadian Maneuver Training Center. The training objectives were to increase cultural awareness for CND soldiers deploying to Afghanistan and to help DOD win the hearts and minds of those they encounter in the region.

Logistics included:
-
Designing overall training approach to produce successful outcomes
-
Write live training scenarios that could be adjusted and adapted for a migrating training group. Live training scenarios had to be based on actual in theatre Canadian Defense missions / actions and events having taken place in Afghanistan 30 days prior to training sessions (successes and failures).
-
Train in field team to manage, monitor and train within new immersive approach. Recruit and train culturally correct role players (120) to perform in pre-determined live scenarios (supporting outcomes), in villages and adapt to unforeseen events during training.
-
Manage logistics for training sessions which lasted up to 3 months each. Staff deployments averaged 30 on a team and included up to 120 ethnic and non-ethnic players. Battle groups averaged 2500 troops per session which included forward operating hospital.
-
Ensure company base logistics, deployment training logistics on the ground and immersive technologies were readily available and in place to accommodate kinetic style training that could change and respond to meet soldiers’ reactions in the field.
-
Ensure training activities could be monitored in real time, live and on the ground via satellite and by remote communications integrated into battle space.
-
Integrate immersive motion picture technologies into battle space. Manage, manufacture and supply of technologies and effects for long term supply. Including.
-
pyrotechnics (simulated IEDs, fire effects, explosions)
-
Ethnic village set dressing and props,
-
Scenario based sets (downed Helicopter, bus explosions, mass casualty events),
-
Practical FX (gun shots, smoke, etc),
-
Special Effects makeup (simulated wounds, severed limbs, blood effects, burned bodies, simulated corpses, mass casualty wound events),

Ethnically and war zone correct wardrove; Local military wardrobe, local police, national police, Taliban, villagers, Local village leaders and Mullah, National leaders and guards, NGOS, Red Cross, Reports, Corporate vendors, children, wedding events, etc)
-
Provide battlefield intelligence and ethnic current events news that corelated to actual training scenarios being played out in the battle space. This included creating and stories and realistic local and ethnic national news broadcast daily (including in field reporters). Plus, a social media platform and online websites that provided realistic intelligence for scenario characters (NGOS, reporters, Red Cross, Village Leaders, Mulas, etc). Realistic official ID’s for each character were created and deployed to coincide with training scenario stories,
-
Training scenarios, characters, intelligence and related story arcs required continuity that covered the entire time of a training session, often 14-30 days.
-
Staff and maintain 375 square miles of training area 7 mock training villages and special augmentation sets.
-
Manage and coordinate and integrate the skills, experience and cultural awareness 3 distinct cultural groups in the training theatre (Military Culture, Afghan Canadian nationals and a motion picture production team.).
-
Maintain High level security – as training scenarios and development were based on non-public/secret classified military objectives and actions.
-
After only two complete training runs of 2500 troops per session, Military Administration sited and recognized us for having reduced casualties in theatre of both civilian and military by 50%.
